Press Release, “Someone Cares” Fundraising Gala
to Auction Joey Robinson’s Black Maid Tribute Paintings in Atlanta October 30
Artist Joey Robinson is donating 16 original art pieces to Someone Cares of Atlanta for a silent auction fundraising gala at the Biltmore Hotel in Atlanta Sunday, October 30. The 16 pieces, part of Robinson’s signature Black Maids Tribute, honor the lives of African American women who have served as maids in white households. They include Georgia native Lena Baker, executed by the State of Georgia in 1945 and exonerated 60 years later. Explanatory texts will accompany the pieces. Someone Cares, Inc. is a leading African American / Latino MSM and Transgender HIV/AIDS community outreach organization in the Southeast. The proceeds from the auctioning of Robinson’s Maids will go towards continuing and expanding Someone Cares’ services to the community. Gala admission is $50 and all donations are tax deductible. The hours are 5-9pm.
